THE MENTAL CHALLENGE OF LOSING WEIGHT

I saw the first session of the Second Season
of the Biggest Loser Asia yesterday.

If you don't get it, the Biggest Loser Asia
is the hit reality show which showcases the
exploits of the overweight and fat contenders
in trying to lose weight.

Their agony tells it all ..... a complete change
of diet .... coupled with 6 hours of vigorous
physical exercises and games everyday.

The objective ---  to lose as much weight as
they can so as to win the prize of US$100,000 !!

But from the audition clips, I can certainly say that
the main objective of the contenders is NOT about
winning the prize money .

Rather it is about losing weight to have a slimmer body
..... to regain their self-confidence again .....to be able
to do all the things that they have always wanted to do
but was unable to due to their physical condition ....

While going to the gym and doing strenous exercises
is physically challenging, the more difficult aspect of
trying to lose weight is the mental challenge.

How many times have you reached breaking point
and gave up ?

How many times did you swear that you will not touch
the exercise equipment again ?

How often have you said " Gosh .... I can't do it anymore " ?

And how do you come up with excuses like .... I am not
in the mood to exercise today .... I am tired today ....
I will do it tomorrow .... ?

Losing weight is not only about getting rid of the fat and
cellulite physically ..... it is also about conditioning your
mind .... to get it ready for the mental challenge.

If you can integrate the mental challenge into your weight
loss program, then at the end of the program, it would not
be surprising to see yourself being able to lose 5-10kg in a
a week !
